Open Display Fridges
Open display fridges are a great choice for cafés, bakeries, and delis that need quick access to refrigerated goods such as dairy products, sandwiches, cold drinks and fresh fruit and vegetables. These open deck fridges force a continuous stream of air (air curtain) across the opening of each refrigerator to keep everything inside cool.
As the name suggests, open display fridges are open to the outside. Because of this, there are some important requirements that you must be able to meet if you would like to buy one of these fridges.
Temperature and Humidity
Most commercial open display fridges are rated for use in an ambient environment below 25°C @ 60% relative humidity. To achieve these requirements, your building will need to have adequate refrigerating air conditioning. An evaporative air conditioner will not be adequate as it will create an environment that is far too humid and on a hot day, it won't be capable of keeping the room temperature below 25°C. ENLAKE recommends that you place your open display fridge in a cool location that is away from direct sunlight. This will minimise the power use of the fridge as well as maximise its lifespan.
Air Movement
An open display fridge must NOT be situated where it is affected by air movements such as air conditioning air outlets, ventilation fans or air breezes. Such air movement will compromise the effectiveness of the air curtain and adversely affect the product temperature in the open cabinet zone. There must be NO air movement directly into the cabinet opening. Air movement will cause failure of the air curtain over the product, resulting in excessive temperature rise. Detectable air draft will adversely affect the cabinet operation. Maximum air movement across the cabinet opening must
